Game terms

Card

A book from the catalog of Les Contes Infusés, an independent bookshop: its cover, title, author, edition, summary and binding.

Parcel

The game’s card pack: 5 books pulled at random at the published odds. One free parcel every 10 minutes, up to 5 waiting; parcels can’t be bought.

Notability score

A book’s rank in the catalog, from 0 to 1,000,000, computed from the catalog itself: the author’s books, the work’s editions, seller offers, copies in store, summary. It sets the binding and never judges quality.

Collected works

An author’s books. Once you own them all, you can bind them: collected works hold at least 5 books, selected works at least 3.

Royalties

The in-game currency, earned by playing: books sold to the stalls, bound works, Early reader badges, Battle wins, auctions. Royalties can’t be bought and never turn into real money.

The Stalls

They buy back any copy for 1 R, whatever its binding, and host auctions between players.

Early reader

A badge on a book you pulled before it took off: since you got it, it has climbed at least 2 binding steps and reached Hardcover or finer.
