Each book

Every parcel uses these odds, your first one included: no book is guaranteed, and every pull is independent.

Per parcel

A parcel holds 5 books pulled independently. The chance of finding at least one Manuscript is about 0.5%, or 1 parcel out of 200; at least one First edition or finer, about 4.9%.

How pulls work

Each slot first pulls a binding using the table above, then a random book among those that carry it. No catch-up rule, no guarantee: your first parcel uses the same odds as every other. A parcel never holds the same book twice.

Selling to the stalls

The stalls buy back every book for 1 R, whatever its binding. A rare book’s real value is set at auction and in trades between players.

Royalties earned by playing

Binding an author’s complete collected works earns 20 R, plus 1 R per book; selected works, 10 R, plus 1 R per book. Reaching level 5, which opens the Stalls, pays 50 R, once. Daily reads, streaks, achievements and First steps earn XP, not royalties.
